27 Arrested at Clovis Rodeo for Alcohol Violations
Clovis Police and California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents arrested 27 people during the five-day Clovis Rodeo for alcohol-related violations, including five arrests for fake IDs.
Officers arrested 22 others for public intoxication, minors possessing alcohol, furnishing alcohol to minors, and one DUI.
Law enforcement used a Trap Door operation to catch minors using false identification. Bars and clubs alert officers when someone presents a fake ID, and officers then arrest the person. Officers trained in false ID recognition handled the arrests.
Penalties for possessing or using a fake ID include a $250 fine, 32 hours of community service, and a one-year driver license suspension.
The ABC Alcohol Policing Partnership program funded the enforcement operation through a grant.
"We are thankful for the partnership with both the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Clovis Rodeo Association to keep this a fun and safe family-friendly event," Clovis Police Corporal Russ Moring said.
