A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for the San Luis Reservoir from this afternoon until Sunday night, with west winds up to 50 mph expected, creating hazardous conditions for small craft and high-profile vehicles.

A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for the San Luis Reservoir, effective from 1 PM PDT today, October 9, until 11 PM PDT Sunday, October 11. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Hanford, CA, issued the advisory due to expected west winds.

Residents and recreational users near the San Luis Reservoir, located in the West Side Mountains north of Highway 198, should prepare for wind gusts up to 50 mph. Sustained west winds of 20 to 30 mph are anticipated.

These conditions will create hazardous situations for small craft on the lake due to strong winds and rough waves. The NWS advises caution. For those driving, winds of this strength can make operating high-profile vehicles difficult. Extra caution is recommended while driving in affected areas.
