Heat Advisory Issued for San Joaquin Valley, Sierra Foothills Until Tuesday
A Heat Advisory has been issued for the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills, with temperatures up to 103 degrees expected from Saturday to Tuesday. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioning, and check on neighbors to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Residents across the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills should prepare for a period of extreme heat, with temperatures expected to reach up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. The National Weather Service (NWS) Hanford CA has issued a Heat Advisory, effective from 11 AM PDT on Saturday, October 3rd, until 11 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 6th.
This advisory covers a wide area including the West Side Mountains north of 198, Los Banos - Dos Palos, Merced - Madera - Mendota, Planada - Le Grand - Snelling, Coalinga - Avenal, West Side of Fresno and Kings Counties, Caruthers - San Joaquin - Selma, Fresno-Clovis, West Side Mountains South of 198, Buttonwillow - Lost Hills - I5, Delano-Wasco-Shafter, Hanford - Corcoran - Lemoore, Visalia - Porterville - Reedley, Buena Vista, Bakersfield, Southeast San Joaquin Valley, South End San Joaquin Valley, Mariposa Madera Foothills, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, Fresno-Tulare Foothills, Fresno-Tulare Lower Sierra, South End Sierra Foothills, and the South End of the Lower Sierra.
The NWS warns that these hot temperatures may lead to heat illnesses, posing a moderate to major risk for much of the population, especially those without effective cooling or hydration. To mitigate these risks, the NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid direct sunlight, and check on relatives and neighbors.
