Tinton Falls Police Add K-9 Unit for Narcotics, Patrol Work

The Tinton Falls Police Department launched a K-9 Unit this week, pairing Officer John Smith with Bella, a two-year-old German Shepherd trained in narcotics detection and patrol functions.

Smith and Bella completed certification at a K-9 Academy before joining the department. The unit will conduct searches, track suspects, and support neighboring law enforcement agencies. The department plans to deploy them for community demonstrations and school visits.

"This unit will enhance our ability to combat crime and build relationships with residents," Chief Michael Dasti said.
