The University of Maryland is partnering with six other universities on a groundbreaking $10 million federal effort to secure smart home devices and protect consumer privacy. The Security and Privacy in the Lifecycle of IoT for Consumer Environments (SPLICE) program, funded by the National Science Foundation, begins work Oct. 1 and aims to equip residents with tools to understand and manage privacy risks in their connected homes.
