E-Verify (PDF) Work Week The normal work week is forty (40) hours, Monday through Friday; however, some positions require weekend, shift, holiday, or overtime. Residency Preference An applicant that is a City resident who enters an open-competitive examination will receive preference points added to the total passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the Civil Service Rules and Regulations. To obtain residency preference, a candidate's home address will be verified. Veteran's Preference An eligible veteran who enters an open-competitive examination will receive preference points added to the total passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the Florida statutes.
