FRANKLIN COUNTY, FL – Residents in Inland Franklin and Coastal Franklin counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm approaches. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Special Weather Statement at 6:31 AM EDT, effective until 7:00 AM EDT today, October 4, 2026.
Doppler radar indicates a strong thunderstorm located over St. George Island, currently moving north at 20 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph.
These gusty winds could lead to downed tree limbs and may blow around unsecured objects. Areas expected to be impacted include Carrabelle, St. George Island, Eastpoint, Apalachicola, Franklin, Royal Bluff, High Bluff, Yent Place, St. George Island State Park, Beverly, Green Point, Creels, and Hays Place.
If you are outdoors in these affected areas, it is recommended to consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building until the storm passes. This is a radar-indicated hazard, and residents should remain aware of their surroundings.
