A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Coastal Franklin, including Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and Alligator Point, effective immediately as of October 9 at 5:17 AM EDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee warns of life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet above ground, with potential for greater than 3 feet above ground through Saturday morning.

Residents in surge-prone areas must remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, with evacuees in shelters well away from storm surge flooding.

Additionally, a Flood Watch is in effect with potential for major flooding from 4-8 inches of rain, locally higher. Tornadoes are also possible, with a threat of several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected. This warning expires October 9 at 1:30 PM UTC.
