Downtown Pensacola will see the return of managed on-street parking fees starting October 5, 2026. This change marks the end of complimentary parking that was in place during the New Palafox construction period.
The reintroduction of managed parking aims to improve access and ensure space availability in high-demand areas. City officials reviewed parking data to implement adjustments, including updated technology and flexible payment options. This shift affects curbside parking areas that have been free for the past year.
Complimentary parking was initially offered to support downtown businesses, residents, employees, and visitors throughout the Reimagine Palafox construction project. With that project nearing completion, the city transitions back to a managed system to maintain a safe, accessible, and economically vibrant downtown.
Residents and visitors will find that all City parking remains complimentary on Sundays, Mondays, and Federal Holidays. Furthermore, more than 60% of City parking will continue to be complimentary 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing various options for those coming downtown.
Revenue generated from parking fees will be reinvested directly into downtown Pensacola. These funds will support parking improvements, public infrastructure, safety initiatives, accessibility enhancements, and technology upgrades. These investments aim to strengthen and enhance the overall downtown experience for everyone.
To prepare for the change, residents should note the October 5 deadline for complimentary on-street parking. Information on new parking options and payment flexibility will be available through city resources.
