Job Opportunity ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST III Requisition Number: 42001093 Pay Plan: Career Service Base Pay: $39,000.00 - $50,000.00 Opening Date: 11/15/2023 Closing Date: 11/29/2023 Job Posting: This is a professional, technical, and supervisory position in the area of environmental protection. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of a team of environmental specialists. This position will conduct complex inspections and investigations, develop and implement environmental protection programs, and provide expert consultation and technical assistance to regulated entities and the public. Responsibilities include interpreting and enforcing state and federal environmental laws and regulations, preparing detailed reports, and testifying in legal proceedings. The incumbent will also be involved in public outreach and education regarding environmental issues. This is a career service position with the State of Florida. Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in environmental science, biology, chemistry, engineering, or a closely related field is required. Three (3) years of professional experience in environmental protection or natural resource management is required. A master’s degree in a qualifying field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. Experience in program management or supervision is preferred.
