Okaloosa County seeks community members to serve as poll workers for upcoming elections. The role is crucial for the democratic process, and volunteers are needed to ensure smooth Election Day operations.
To become a poll worker, individuals must apply and meet several requirements. Applicants must be registered voters in Okaloosa County, proficient in English, and able to communicate effectively with the public. They also need their own transportation, commit to working at least 14.5 hours on Election Day starting at 6 a.m., and be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Additionally, poll workers must lift at least 30 pounds, be computer literate, and have an active email account. Selected individuals will attend mandatory training before each election.
Rosetta Robertson, the Poll Worker Manager, oversees recruitment and management. Interested individuals can contact her via email at [email protected] or by phone at (850) 689-5600 during office hours. The Okaloosa County Elections office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.
Prospective poll workers can submit applications online or download and mail a printable form to the office at 302 Wilson Street North, Suite 102, Crestview, FL 32536. Submitting an application does not guarantee placement; the number of workers needed varies by election size and expected turnout. Applicants are selected based on availability, willingness to travel, and election needs.
Poll workers interact with the public and fellow workers courteously, patiently, and efficiently.
