Fort Plain School Board Approves $24.2M Budget
The Fort Plain Board of Education unanimously approved a $24.24 million budget for the 2026-27 school year on April 15. The spending plan increases the district budget by $240,000, or 1 percent, while maintaining all current academic programs and personnel.
The tax levy will increase 1.25 percent, staying below the state-allowed cap of 2.61 percent. This means the budget needs only a simple majority of voters to pass.
Voters will decide the budget on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from noon to 8 p.m. at Harry Hoag Elementary School Library. The Board of Education election appears on the same ballot.
The district will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the District Office, 25 High Street, Fort Plain.
Residents can request absentee ballot applications from the District Clerk between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. Call 518-993-4000 ext. 1000. The district must receive completed ballots by 5 p.m. on May 19.
Additional budget information is available on the district website.
