3 days agoAPD Celebrates Disability Employment Awareness Month with Events Statewide
TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is celebrating Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) throughout October. This year’s national theme is “Advancing Access and Equity.”
“DEAM is a great opportunity to raise awareness about disability employment issues and celebrate the many contributions of America’s workers with disabilities,” said APD Director Taylor Hatch. “APD is committed to helping individuals with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment.”
APD is hosting and participating in several events throughout the state to promote the employment of individuals with disabilities. These events include:
* October 3, 2024: Disability Employment Awareness Month Kickoff Event in Tallahassee
* October 10, 2024: Employer Recognition Awards Ceremony in Orlando
* October 17, 2024: Disability Employment Summit in Tampa
* October 24, 2024: Assistive Technology Expo in Jacksonville
APD also partners with several organizations to provide employment services to individuals with disabilities. These organizations include:
* CareerSource Florida
* The Able Trust
* The Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
