Fort Myers Beach Recovery Plan: Community Input Needed
The Town of Fort Myers Beach is developing a Recovery and Resilience Plan to guide rebuilding after Hurricane Ian and prepare for future storms. The plan will address infrastructure, flood preparation, economic recovery, environmental protection, mobility, and quality of life.
Town staff will analyze existing conditions, develop strategies, prioritize projects, and set an implementation timeline.
Public input begins this month. Phase 1, "Listen and Learn," runs through June 2026. The town will conduct focus groups with business owners, community leaders, service workers, and property owners. Staff will also conduct one-on-one interviews with key community members.
Residents can participate through pop-up surveys at grocery stores, parks, beaches, restaurants, and shopping areas. A public meeting will present initial feedback themes. An online survey is available at https://form.jotform.com/261404571826053.
Phase 2, scheduled for Fall 2026, will present concepts, drawings, and visual plans for residents to review and refine priorities. The town will hold public meetings, workshops, and open houses.
The final plan will identify funding opportunities, support local businesses, improve public spaces, and establish implementation steps.
