VERNON, Ind. – A 67-year-old woman faces charges after performing "donuts" on the Jennings County Courthouse lawn Monday.
Video of the incident, shared by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office on social media, shows a silver sedan, identified as being driven by Lorraine Phyllis Wilkerson, spinning on the courthouse lawn. The vehicle reportedly struck a sign and narrowly missed a tree, light post, and a brick bench.
The sheriff’s office stated on social media, "If you’ve had a few too many margaritas with dinner, please don’t get behind the wheel, and definitely don’t do donuts on the courthouse lawn." They urged residents to "enjoy themselves responsibly and always make arrangements for a safe ride home if you’ve been drinking."
Booking records show Wilkerson was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more.
