Oakland Park Seeks Residents for City Advisory Boards

The City of Oakland Park is accepting applications from residents for appointments to its advisory boards and committees. Service on these bodies allows citizens to directly influence city policy and direction.

Openings exist on the Art and Cultural Board, Beautification Advisory Board, Board of Adjustment, Civil Service Board, Code Enforcement Board, Historic Preservation Board, Program for Public Information Board, School Advisory Board, and Unsafe Structures Board. The city also seeks applicants for the eight-week Local Government Academy course.

Applicants must use their Oakland Park home address. Applications remain valid for three years. Florida Statutes Section 112.317 requires members of certain boards, marked with an asterisk, to file a Financial Disclosure Report.

Applicants select the specific boards or committees for which they wish to be considered. They must also indicate whether they are seeking a new appointment or re-applying. Current board members must state their existing role.

All provided information will be publicly available under the Florida Sunshine Law. Service on these boards is voluntary. Appointed members must faithfully perform duties, serve their full term when possible, and comply with all city, county, and state laws, including financial disclosure requirements where applicable.

Appointed members seeking another advisory board position must submit an updated application and take the oath of office prescribed in Florida Statutes. Individuals may serve on only one commission-appointed board simultaneously.
