Motorcyclist Dies in Sumter County Crash
A motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Sumter County. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident near County Road 470 and 416N.

A 40-year-old Lake Panasoffkee man died Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road 470 and County Road 416N in Sumter County. The Florida Highway Patrol reported the collision occurred at 2:06 p.m.
The crash involved a Yamaha motorcycle and a Ford F-150 pickup truck. Both vehicles traveled westbound on County Road 470. Troopers stated the motorcyclist was behind the pickup and attempted to pass it in a designated zone. As they approached County Road 416N, the 54-year-old pickup driver, also from Lake Panasoffkee, turned left.
The pickup entered the motorcycle's path, causing the collision. Emergency services transported the motorcyclist to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol continues its investigation.
