Florida HVAC Installers: New Mandated Form

Contractors installing HVAC systems across Florida now must use a new form to document changes and components for both residential and commercial properties. The Air Conditioning Change out Form aligns with the 8th edition of the Florida Building Code (2023) and requires a separate form for each A/C system installed.

The form requires contractors to record critical information about new and existing system components. For new installations, installers must detail the manufacturer, model number, SEER/EER rating, tonnage, heat strip capacity, HACR breaker/fuse size, wire size, and refrigerant type for both the air handler and the condenser. The form also specifies whether duct replacement, refrigerant line replacement, rooftop A/C stand installation, or smoke detector installation (for systems over 2,000 cfm) occurred.

For existing systems, the form requests available manufacturer details, SEER/EER ratings, size, heat strip capacity, breaker/fuse size, wire size, and refrigerant type. This information helps track system history and ensures compliance.

The form includes a section to identify if the property is located in a flood plain, noting that mechanical equipment may need elevation in such areas. Installing contractors must sign and date the certification section, attesting to the accuracy of the provided information.

A practical requirement for installers is the availability of a ladder for attic or rooftop access. The implementation of this form emphasizes the updated standards for energy efficiency and safety in HVAC installations mandated by the 2023 Florida Building Code.
