Former Estero Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Arrested on Embezzlement, Stalking Charges

Scott Kreher, 52, a former battalion chief with Estero Fire Rescue, was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in Tallahassee on September 26, 2025. Kreher faced charges of grand theft, scheme to defraud, and aggravated stalking. This arrest followed an investigation initiated by the FDLE in August 2024.

The FDLE began its investigation in August 2024 after receiving information from the Estero Fire District regarding possible misappropriation of funds by Kreher. The scope of the inquiry expanded to include allegations of aggravated stalking, in addition to the initial concerns about financial misconduct.

Kreher, an Estero resident, was taken into custody on September 26, 2025. The legal process following his arrest commenced in late 2025, addressing the charges of grand theft, scheme to defraud, and aggravated stalking.
