Altamonte Springs Mobility Fee Schedule Updated for Building Permits

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – The City of Altamonte Springs revised its mobility fee rate schedule, affecting building permits issued on or after August 1, 2020.

The City Commission adopted Ordinance 1751-20 on April 21, 2020, which updated the mobility fees and their definitions. These new rates became effective August 1, 2020.

Permits issued before August 1, 2020, followed the previous mobility fee structure. Those issued on or after the effective date are subject to the updated rates.

The city periodically reviews and updates mobility fees to reflect changes in the project list, project costs, and data from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Household Travel Survey.

A notable change resulting from the updated fees is a reduction in overall fees collected within the city. This is due to an agreement with Seminole County, which no longer collects its Road Impact Fee within Altamonte Springs city limits as of August 1, 2020.

The city also continues to offer reduced rates for new developments in designated activity centers or the transit-oriented area near the SunRail Station.

The updated schedule includes specific rates for various land use types, such as residential, recreational, institutional, office, medical, industrial, and commercial uses. For example, effective August 1, 2020, the mobility fee for a single-family detached or duplex dwelling unit is $1,984. Reduced rates are $1,686 for activity centers and $1,390 for the transit-oriented area.
