54 minutes agoSelecting the Right Paint Sheen: A Guide for Pompano Beach Home Builders
When specifiers fail to take into account all of the variables of sheen selection, they may be sacrificing performance for aesthetics – or vice versa. By considering these factors, specifiers can be assured they’re selecting the right sheen level for the job.
PERFORMANCE
The higher the sheen, the greater the washability, durability and moisture resistance. For projects or areas that require frequent cleaning, a higher sheen is recommended.
AESTHETICS
Sheen level greatly affects the appearance of color. The higher the sheen, the more vivid the color will appear. Glossier sheens reflect more light, highlighting architectural details or trim. Lower sheens absorb more light and provide a more uniform look.
HIDING IMPERFECTIONS
Lower sheens hide surface imperfections better. Flat and matte sheens minimize the appearance of bumps, dents and uneven surfaces. Higher sheens tend to highlight imperfections, so glossy paints require careful surface preparation.
