Awards & Recognition All-America City Each year, the National Civic League recognizes ten communities with the All-America City Award. These communities leverage civic engagement, collaboration, inclusiveness and innovation to successfully address local issues. The Town of Miami Lakes was named an All-America City finalist in 2010, 2013, and 2021. 2010 | DIVERSITY & INCLUSION, YOUTH & EDUCATION 2013 | CIVIC LIFE 2021 | BUILDING EQUITALE AND RESILIENT COMMUNITIES Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Since 2010, Miami Lakes has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Davey Award The Davey Awards from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) is an international award focused exclusively on honoring outstanding creative work from the best small teams from across the world. The Davey Awards receives entries from ad agencies, digital agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms and public relations firms. In 2021, the Town of Miami Lakes’ Communications & Community Affairs Department earned two Davey Awards; the Gold Davey Award, the highest possible honor from AIVA and a Silver Davey Award. This international recognition is a major accomplishment for the Town. What Makes Miami Lakes a Pet-Friendly City?Certified in the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program in 2019, Miami Lakes, Florida scored especially well in the Shelters and Businesses traits of our pet-friendly cities model. Citizens also love the community’s K-9 Cove dog park. K-9 Cove features both a passive recreational area and two separate fenced areas for smaller and larger dogs. The area includes benches, drinking fountains for the dogs, and a joint open air shelter for use by pet owners. Tree City USA The Tree City USA Award is provided by The Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service, to recognize environmental improvement and encourage higher levels of tree care throughout America. Tree City USA | Growth Award The Tree City USA Growth Award is presented by the Arbor Day Foundation to participating Tree City USA communities that demonstrate higher levels of tree care and community engagement during the calendar year. Tree City USA | Sterling City A community that has earned ten Tree City USA Growth Awards is recognized as a Sterling Tree City USA. Sterling communities are regarded as leaders in community forestry and are often looked upon as innovators. The Town comprehensive Tree Management Plan has established an organized, proactive tree maintenance program to ensure Miami Lakes and its trees continue “Growing Beautifully.” Playful City USA Playful City USA was a recognition program, that recognized and honored the cities and towns that ensured kids in their communities, were getting the balanced and active play they need to thrive. From 2008 to 2017 Miami Lakes earned recognition from national non-profit KaBOOM! for its efforts to provide children with the tools and opportunities for play. Communities for a Lifetime The Florida Department of Elder Affairs honored the town of Miami Lakes in 2005 with the Communities for a Lifetime Award. This award recognizes municipalities that have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing accessible and livable communities for older adults. The recognition is a testament to the town’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for older adults. The town’s efforts in promoting aging in place, enhancing quality of life, and fostering intergenerational connections make it a model for other municipalities. 100 Best Communities for Young People In 2012 Miami Lakes was honored by America’s Promise Alliance as a winner of the 100 Best Communities for Young People presented by ING. The competition spotlights communities that demonstrate a lasting commitment to, and cross sector support for, youth development through innovative programs and services in schools and throughout the community. The William Lyman Phillips Award Named after William Lyman Phillips, a prominent figure in the Florida parks and recreation community, the William Lyman Phillips Award is bestowed upon individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the field of park planning and design. The selection process for this prestigious award is rigorous, with judges evaluating nominees based on criteria such as creativity, innovation, functionality, and community engagement. In 2016, Miami Lakes stood out among the nominees for its exceptional park planning and implementation. The town’s commitment to creating inclusive and accessible parks, as well as its dedication to conservation and environmental stewardship, earned it the recognition it deserves.

Legacy Permits

The City of Boynton Beach migrated from Legacy our paper permit processing system in May, 2021, however, there are projects that were initiated in this system that are not closed.  If you applied for a permit prior to May 22, 2021 or have a permit application number of 21-2803 and lower you must use our Legacy system to reinstate your permit or permit application, make payments, submit revisions to an approved permit, submit corrections for a previously rejected permit application, or request certificates. Inspection requests must be received by 3:00 pm in order to schedule an inspection for the following business day.  This information is to help you with the permitting process.  Depending on type of permit, you may need to  find and download permit forms and applications (below). For Permits Issued Before May 22, 2021: If your permit number is 21-2804 or lower, please continue to follow our Legacy process to schedule your inspection, check your application status, and view the daily inspections schedule. Schedule An Inspection Inspections Schedule Check Status Frequently Asked Questions Who Can Apply For A Permit? General Information About Permit Process Do I need a permit?  Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit. This page is intended to be used as a general guide. When determining whether or not a building permit is required, refer to Section 105 of the Florida Building Code (FBC) Boynton Beach Administrative Amendments or consult directly with the Boynton Beach Building Department. Who can apply for a permit? The Building Department may only issue permits to Contractors and qualifying Owner/Builders pursuant to Florida Statute. Any eligible Owner/Builder can apply for a permit on any property that is for their own use. Permits requiring plan review? For permits requiring plan review, we will begin your permit process, review your application and route your package to plan review. Once the plans are approved for permit by all applicable departments we will issue the permit and commence the field inspection process. Did you know?  Building improvements that improve energy efficiency or use renewable energy may be eligible for cash rebates under the City’s Energy Edge Rebate Program. The installation, replacement, removal or metering of any load management control device. Plumbing The stopping of leaks in drains, water, soil, waste or vent pipe, provided, however, that if any concealed trap, drain pipe, water, soil, waste or vent pipe becomes defective and it becomes necessary to remove and replace the same with new material, such work shall be considered as new work and a permit shall be obtained and inspection made as provided in this code. The clearing of stoppages or the repairing of leaks in pipes, valves or fixtures and the removal and reinstallation of water closets, provided such repairs do not involve or require the replacement or rearrangement of valves, pipes or fixtures. Emergency repairsWhere equipment replacements and repairs must be performed in an emergency situation, the permit application shall be submitted within the next working business day to the building official. Minor repairsOrdinary minor repairs may be made with the approval of the building official without a permit, provided the repairs do not include the cutting away of any wall, partition or portion thereof, the removal or cutting of any structural beam or load-bearing support, or the removal or change of any required means of egress, or rearrangement of parts of a structure affecting the egress requirements; nor shall ordinary repairs include addition to, alteration of, replacement or relocation of any standpipe, water supply, sewer, drainage, drain leader, gas, soil, waste, vent or similar piping, electric wiring systems or mechanical equipment or other work affecting public health or general safety, and such repairs shall not violate any of the provisions of the technical codes. CaseAccess

CaseAccess makes statewide case research more convenient for frequent professional users while maintaining the Clerks' role as the source of the official court record. CaseAccess is an optional, subscription-based research service available through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal (E-Filing Portal). It is designed for private attorneys, legal professionals and public researchers who regularly need to search case information across multiple Florida counties. CaseAccess brings Clerk-sourced case information together in one secure, streamlined statewide search platform. The service allows users to search case information from all 67 Florida counties through the Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS). How can a private attorney, legal professional, or public researcher subscribe? To subscribe, visit the Florida Courts E-Filing Authority homepage and select the "Enter the Portal" button. Sign in to your active E-Filing Portal account, then select CaseAccess Subscription from the command ribbon to manage your subscription settings. If you do not already have an account, you must create one before subscribing. There is no cost to register for an E-Filing account. How much does it cost? CaseAccess is available for: $20 per month $200 per year Subscription fees support the technology, processing, security, daily updates, maintenance, and customer service necessary to operate the statewide research platform. The subscription fee is for the enhanced search experience and related services. Users are not purchasing or acquiring ownership of public court information. Is public court information still available for free? Yes. Public case information remains available through the existing public-access channels provided by individual Clerks. CaseAccess is an optional service for users who want the convenience of a statewide search platform, particularly those who frequently conduct research across multiple jurisdictions. Is CaseAccess the official court record? No. CaseAccess is a research tool and is not the official court record. Users who need the official and most current record, document or case status should consult the appropriate Clerk’s office. Clerks remain the source of the official court record. If someone asks, "Am I paying for public records?" No. The subscription fee is for an enhanced statewide search experience and related services. Users are not purchasing or acquiring ownership of public court information. Public case information continues to be available through existing public-access channels provided by individual Clerks.

Aventura Community Green Garden

The Aventura Community Green Garden at Founders Park South (3105 N.E. 190 Street) features 4 by 12-foot garden sections filled with sterilized topsoil for residents to grow vegetables, flowers, herbs, and other plants. Membership To start gardening, Green Garden membership and garden section rental are required. Members must be Aventura residents. Garden sections are assigned in the order that the applications and required fees are received. The annual fee for one garden section is $150. Membership is valid for one year from the registration date. New members may join at any time during the year, providing they are 18 years of age or older. Hours Park hours vary by season.
