Hospital Visitation

Hospital Visitation At BayCare, we understand the important role that family and friends play in the health and well-being of our patients. As we continue to navigate the pandemic, we have updated our visitation guidelines to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and team members. These guidelines are subject to change based on community conditions and/or CDC, CMS or state guidelines. General Visitation Hours Visitation hours are from 6am – 9pm daily. These hours may vary by location and unit. Please check with the specific unit or department for any specific visitation hours or restrictions. Visitor Requirements Visitors must be 16 years of age or older. (Some exceptions may apply.) Visitors should be in good health and free of any signs or symptoms of illness, including fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, chills, vomiting or diarrhea. Visitors may be asked to wear a mask in certain areas of the hospital, such as patient rooms or clinical areas. Please follow the instructions of our team members. Visitors should practice good hand hygiene by washing their hands frequently with soap and water or using hand sanitizer. Visitors should follow all instructions from our team members and comply with all hospital policies and procedures. Specific Guidelines COVID-19 Positive Patients: Visitation may be restricted for patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Please check with the patient's care team for guidance. Labor and Delivery: Two visitors are allowed in the labor and delivery room. One support person is allowed to stay with the patient after delivery. Pediatrics: Two parents or guardians are allowed to visit at any time. Surgery: Two visitors are allowed in the waiting room during surgery. Please check with the surgical team for updates on the patient's progress. Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Two visitors are allowed at a time. Visitation may be limited to 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the patient's condition. Emergency Department (ED): One visitor is allowed to accompany the patient in the ED. Other Considerations In certain circumstances, such as during a pandemic or other public health emergency, visitation may be further restricted. We will make every effort to communicate any changes to our visitation guidelines in a timely manner.
