Nebraska Implements Medicaid Work Requirements, Coverage Loss Anticipated
LINCOLN, Neb. — Approximately 200 Nebraska residents will lose their health insurance coverage through Medicaid on August 1, according to the state's Medicaid director. This change stems from the implementation of new work requirements for Medicaid recipients, a policy outlined in the 2025 federal budget law.
Nebraska is the first state to roll out these specific work requirements. The state's Medicaid director discussed the anticipated coverage changes in an interview with the nonprofit news organization Tradeoffs. The director specified the number of individuals expected to be affected by the August 1 deadline.
