Duties: This is a field and laboratory position located in West Palm Beach, Florida. Employee performs field and laboratory work associated with environmental monitoring and pesticide enforcement. Work may include, but not be limited to, the following: Collects environmental samples (soil, water, air, etc.) in accordance with established operating procedures for laboratory analysis. Conducts field inspections of agricultural and structural pest control sites for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Assists with pesticide use and misuse investigations. Prepares samples for laboratory analysis. Maintains and calibrates field and laboratory equipment. Enters data into computer databases. Provides technical assistance to the public. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic scientific principles and practices. Ability to collect and analyze data. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use a computer and related software. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including outdoors and in confined spaces.
