A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for Mono County in California, and Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties in Nevada, effective today, October 10, from 11 AM PDT until 11 PM PDT.
The National Weather Service in Reno, NV, reports that southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, are expected across the affected areas. These conditions are anticipated to create hazardous boating conditions on area lakes, including rough waves, particularly for small craft.
Residents and visitors planning water activities are advised to check lake conditions prior to departure. Boaters should be prepared for sudden increases in wind speed and wave heights. The National Weather Service recommends considering postponing boating activities until winds subside.
