Fayette County Clerk Tameca Smith Elected to Lead State Clerks Association Board

Tameca Smith, Fayette County Clerk, was elected to the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia Board of Managers, representing county clerks statewide.

Smith took the oath on May 1 at ACCG's annual conference in Chatham County. State Rep. Chas Cannon administered the oath to newly elected board members.

"I am truly honored to serve on the ACCG Board of Managers," Smith said. "I am proud to represent County Clerks across Georgia and to bring our collective voice to the table as we work together to strengthen county government."

Smith has served Fayette County for 13 years, including nine as County Clerk. She holds a master's degree in business administration and earned her Masters Certified County Clerk designation in 2018. She also holds the Certified County Official credential from ACCG, the Certified Public Manager designation from the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government, and the Georgia Records Professional Certification.

Smith serves as president of the Georgia County Clerks Association and as Sergeant at Arms for Toastmasters International's Fayette County Library Club. She co-chairs the Fayette County Community Remembrance Coalition. ACCG named her the 2022 Leadership Development Advocate of the Year.

The ACCG Board of Managers sets policy and direction for the statewide association representing Georgia's 159 counties.
