Village Board Approves Changes to Refuse and Recycling Collection
Wheaton residents can expect new refuse and recycling carts and an updated collection schedule this summer, following the Village Board's approval of changes to the refuse and recycling collection program.
During their meeting on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Village Hall in downtown Wheaton, the Village Board officially approved a new contract with Lakeshore Recycling Services (LRS). This agreement will bring significant updates to waste management services for single-family homes in the village.
As part of the new contract, all single-family homes in Wheaton, from neighborhoods near Wheaton College to those along the DuPage River, will receive new refuse and recycling carts. These carts are scheduled for delivery in July. Following the cart distribution, residents should prepare for changes to their regular collection schedule, which will take effect starting the week of August 5, 2024.
Further details regarding the new collection schedule and cart usage are expected to be released as the implementation dates approach. Residents are encouraged to look for a complete news release for more comprehensive information on these upcoming changes.
