Milton Township Distributes $1.3M in Mental Health Grants, Reports Zero Debt

Milton Township officials reported $1.3 million in mental health grants and over $120,000 in direct resident assistance at their annual meeting Thursday at the Wheaton Community Center.

The township's 708 Community Mental Health Board awarded the grants to regional mental health programs. The Community Emergency Response Team saved DuPage County taxpayers $333,165 through volunteer work, while the Milton Township Food Pantry served more than 13,000 people.

Supervisor Elizabeth "Buffy" Higgins-Beard said the township completed overdue audits and eliminated all debt. Township Clerk Dan Bailey posted board meeting videos and financial records on the township website before each session. Officials also launched a new website and mobile app for residents to access service information.

Milton Township covers most of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, plus portions of Carol Stream, Downers Grove, Glendale Heights, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, and Winfield.
