Heat Advisory Issued for Bay Area, Temperatures Up to 100 Degrees
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Bay Area and surrounding regions from October 3 to October 7, with temperatures up to 100 degrees; residents should prioritize hydration and limit outdoor activity.
Residents across the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding regions should prepare for dangerously hot conditions as a Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA. The advisory is effective immediately, from October 3 at 12:00 PM PDT until October 7 at 10:00 PM PDT.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s to low-100s. Areas affected include the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains and Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
The NWS warns that this heat level can affect anyone without effective cooling or adequate hydration. Impacts are likely for some health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure. Hydration is critical. Drink water, and provide water to vulnerable individuals if possible. Take extra precautions outdoors by wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limiting strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Seek immediate action if experiencing symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
