Residents in Anchorage can expect to see construction crews from T-Fiber, formerly Lumos Fiber, working along rights-of-way and utility easements as the company begins its fiber optic cable installation. The project aims to bring 100% fiber optic internet service to the area.
T-Fiber crews are permitted to access designated utility easements and rights-of-way, which are typically strips of land along streets, sidewalks, or property lines. While homeowners often maintain these areas, the city has granted T-Fiber access to portions of these public spaces.
Homeowners will receive a printed notice at their door or in their mailbox when work is scheduled to begin in their specific section of the city. Construction workers should be identifiable by their company identification and will be working only during daylight hours. Existing public utility lines within the right-of-way will be marked with flags, and residents are asked not to remove them until construction is complete. T-Fiber crews will remove the flags upon finishing their work.
Residents with private utilities, such as invisible dog fences or irrigation systems, are advised to contact T-Fiber directly as these are not located by the standard 811 service. The company acknowledges that construction can be disruptive and has provided contact information for questions or concerns.
For any deviations from these guidelines, or for questions and problems related to the installation, residents can contact the Anchorage Director of Public Works at 502.245.9700. For general construction inquiries or support, T-Fiber can be reached Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 1-800-905-9017 or via email at [email protected].
Upon completion of the installation, any ground disturbance caused by the work will be restored.
