Volunteer with Warrick Invasive Species Partnership

The community is invited to take part in an upcoming environmental stewardship event at Overlook Park on Friday, April 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Warrick Invasive Species Partnership will host a hands-on day focused on removing invasive plants, learning about local ecosystems, and exploring innovative conservation tools.The event will begin with an educational session from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., led by Dawn Slack, who will share insights on identifying invasive species and understanding their impact on native habitats. Participants will gain practical knowledge that can be applied in their own yards and neighborhoods.A free lunch will be provided from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering attendees a chance to relax and connect with fellow volunteers.Following lunch, the Weed Wrangle will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., giving participants the opportunity to actively remove invasive plants from the park. During this time, attendees will also enjoy a special drone demonstration by Rob Hutchison of Hutch Drone Pro, showcasing how aerial technology can support environmental management and conservation efforts.Volunteers are encouraged to come prepared for outdoor work. Please bring boots, gloves, and a reusable water bottle. Participants should wear long sleeves, long pants, and appropriate footwear. Bug spray is also recommended. Tools will be provided, though attendees are welcome to bring their own if preferred.This event is a great opportunity to support local conservation efforts, learn from experts, and make a positive impact on the community’s natural spaces.
