Touch-A-Truck Open House
About this Event
The Presque Isle Fire Department is reminding residents to take a few simple steps as warmer weather returns to help prevent fires and keep the community safe.
Burn permits for 2026 are now available at the station for a ten-dollar fee (cash or check only). Anyone planning to burn should make sure to have a water source nearby, clear the area of any hazards, and call the department at 207-769-0881 to check current fire conditions before burning.
Residents are also encouraged to take a few minutes to look over outdoor grills before using them for the season. Check for grease buildup, debris, or any signs of damage, and make sure propane hoses are in good condition and not leaking. Keeping grills at least 3 feet from a structure is also recommended when feasible.
Spring cleanup is another important part of fire prevention. Removing dry leaves, brush, and other debris can reduce the risk of fires spreading. It is recommended to clear roofs, gutters, decks, and the area around your home, and to keep woodpiles and other materials at least 30 feet away from structures. We encourage residents to do this as safely as possible.
The department will also be hosting its annual Touch-A-Truck Open House on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will include emergency and municipal vehicles, interactive displays, and food trucks. All are welcome to stop by, meet local firefighters, and learn more about fire safety.
