A new community gathering space at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport is preparing for its official opening Memorial Day weekend, offering residents and visitors a unique place to enjoy local food while watching planes arrive and depart from the active airfield.The Hangar Food Truck Park, which recently began operating through a soft opening, will officially celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, May 23, 2026 with a full day of food, aviation activities, and family-friendly entertainment from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The project follows a bid process for a food truck manager and mobile food vendors. Following that process and the award of the bid, the concept for The Hangar Food Truck Park was developed. The Hangar is operated by Parker Montano, owner of Pine Tree Helicopters, which has been based at the Sanford Airport for five years. The new food truck park will feature a rotating lineup of local food trucks serving pilots, airport visitors, and the broader Sanford community. The venue includes covered pavilion seating, an outdoor patio area, and direct views of runway activity.  “We’re excited to continue diversifying the amenities and services available at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport,” said Airport Manager Allison Navia. “The Hangar gives pilots and visitors another option to enjoy while also creating a new way for the community to experience the airport.” She added that as activity at the airport continues to grow, projects like The Hangar help bring more people to the airport while showcasing ongoing operations and activity. “We wanted to create a place where people can come hang out, grab great food, and enjoy the atmosphere of the airport,” said Parker Montano, operator of The Hangar Food Truck Park. “You can sit outside, watch planes take off and land, and try something different every time you visit. There really isn’t anything else like it around here, and we’re excited to bring that experience to Sanford.” The official opening celebration will feature food trucks serving barbecue, burgers, egg rolls, desserts, and other local favorites throughout the day. A pilot fly-in is also planned, with aviators from around the region invited to participate in the festivities. Helicopter rides will be available to event attendees for $30 per person on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers say they hope the food truck park will become a regular destination throughout the warmer months, with vendors rotating frequently to give visitors a reason to return throughout the season.
