MEET THE ARTISTS David Morgan, Piano As the founder of The Music Shed in Redding, David Morgan unites his professional music career with a passion for education. He is an accomplished pianist, producer, mix engineer, and educator dedicated to fostering the next generation of musicians. Morgan's musical foundation was built early in childhood in California and then continued at the University of New Orleans, where he studied jazz piano under the direct mentorship of legends Ellis Marsalis and Harold Battiste. It was there where he studied and practiced by day and gigged with well-known New Orleans artists by night. Moving to New York City in 1992, this training launched him into an international recording and touring career, collaborating with diverse and acclaimed artists such as Neshama Carlebach, Peter Himmelman, Wynton Marsalis, John Tesh, Jane Lynch. He has four jazz albums and a rock album under his name. Beyond the stage, Morgan is a prolific composer and producer for television, with music currently featured in hundreds of shows across major networks including CBS Sports, Discovery, A&E, The History Channel and MTV. The Music Shed is where his educational mission comes alive. This unique rock band training program allows David to share the art of playing collaboratively in a band setting, guiding students through the exciting process of writing, recording, and performing their own original music.
