Scandinavia Photo Exhibit

About this Event

A new photography exhibit on display at Kellogg Community College this summer is showcasing more than three dozen photos shot by a dozen KCC students and faculty members in Scandinavia this spring.

The photographs were made during an 11-day class trip as part of the College’s ART 220: Landscape Photography course in May. Subjects include stunning landscape, architectural and other views of locations in Copenhagen, Denmark, Gothenburg, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway.

“Scandinavia: An ART 220: Landscape Photography Class Exhibition” opened June 24 and will run through Aug. 27 in the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center’s Eleanor R. and Robert A. DeVries Gallery, on campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular summer gallery hours, which are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

A closing reception – also free and open to the public – will be held with the artists from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in the gallery.

KCC’s ART 220: Landscape Photography course generally runs every other summer, giving students and community members alike a chance to learn their craft on trips out of state or out of the country. Previous destinations have included Iceland, a “Deep South” trip along the Georgia coast, and a tour of the American Southwest, among other locations.

KCC Photography and Multimedia Program students shared the trip this year with Hospitality and Psychology students traveling for courses focused on their particular disciplines. For more information about the exhibit or other KCC arts events and initiatives, contact KCC’s Arts and Communication Office at 269-965-4126.
