William Herbert stood under the bright lights of a New York City stage on Sunday, May 17, 2026, earning the title of Emerging Artist Winner at the Roger Rees Awards Showcase. This prestigious runner-up honor is awarded to only one male and one female performer who demonstrate exceptional promise, artistry, and growth. This achievement followed William's selection as a Top 12 Finalist earlier in the evening. The journey began with the Farmingdale High School Playcrafters production of The SpongeBob Musical. Both William and nominee Devin Williams spent the 2025-2026 school year honing their craft under the guidance of teacher Jessica Mischke. Their hard work led them to compete against students from over 100 high schools in the Greater New York Area. The district also celebrated Lea Fredonis, who was recognized at the showcase for her New Faces Honors for Excellence in Acting.
