Public Input Meeting for Johnston Park Master Plan
About this Event
The City of Woodstock invites community members to participate in a public input meeting for the Johnston Park Master Plan on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. The meeting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chambers at City Center, located at 8534 Main Street.
Johnston Park is a 17.76‑acre undeveloped property accessed from Main Street that the City plans to transform into a passive park. Passive parks are outdoor spaces designed for low‑impact, unstructured recreation and for enjoying natural surroundings, with minimal built infrastructure. Unlike active parks, which typically include amenities such as athletic fields or swimming pools, passive parks focus on preserving the natural landscape.
A brief presentation will begin at 5:45 p.m. to review existing site conditions and highlight programming suggestions gathered so far. Afterward, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about desired amenities and improvements for the park.
“Johnston Park is a rare opportunity to preserve a beautiful natural area right in the heart of our community,” said Brian Borden, Parks and Recreation Director. “We want residents to play an active role in shaping this space so it truly reflects the community’s vision for a peaceful and accessible place to enjoy nature.”
Community feedback is an essential part of the planning process, and the City encourages all residents to take part in the discussion.
