Protest Testimony Project Roundtable

Protest Testimony Project Roundtable

About this Event

Join a Community Roundtable and Help Shape How Protest Policing Reforms Are Enforced What does accountability actually look like when it comes to protest policing in New York City? And who gets to decide whether change is real? Join us for a community roundtable as part of the Protest Testimony Project--an effort to ensure that the people most impacted by policing at protests, marches, rallies, Pride celebrations, cultural events, and other public gatherings have a direct voice in how reforms are evaluated and enforced. Many New Yorkers have witnessed or experienced aggressive police presence at events meant to celebrate, grieve, organize, or speak out. Whether you've attended Pride, a cultural celebration, a march, a demonstration, or another community gathering where policing felt excessive, your experiences are important. In the wake of recent policy changes and legal settlements affecting how the NYPD responds to protests and public assemblies, this space is about more than sharing information--it's about community accountability. Together, we'll discuss what's changed, what still needs to change, and what meaningful oversight should look like moving forward. This roundtable is an opportunity to: Learn about recent changes to NYPD protest policing policies Understand the ongoing settlement and compliance review process Share your experiences, observations, and concerns about policing at protests and public gatherings Help shape how these reforms are evaluated and implemented Whether you've organized demonstrations, attended Pride or other cultural celebrations, participated in marches, or simply want to help ensure that everyone can safely exercise their rights in public spaces, your voice belongs in this conversation.
