Town Announces Annual Asian American Festival
at North Hempstead Beach Park
North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and the Town Board announced that North Hempstead’s Asian American Festival will be held on Saturday, May 16, at 11:30 a.m. at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.
“North Hempstead’s rich cultural tapestry will be on full display at North Hempstead Beach Park, so join us at the beach for a fun, educational, and dynamic celebration of our incredible diversity,” Supervisor DeSena said.
North Hempstead’s Asian American Festival is a beachfront gala of food, folk art, and cultural performances, featuring international Asian heritage from countries like China, India, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Philippines. The event is likely to draw a crowd of thousands and feature Japanese Taiko Drumming, traditional Chinese lion dancers, Indian Henna tattooing, and Korean traditional games, as well as a lively market, arts and crafts, and a selection of delicious cuisine from local restaurants.
May 2026 has officially been proclaimed Asian American and Pacific Islander American (AAPI) Heritage Month in the Town of North Hempstead. Since the first Asian American Festival in 2010, members of the North Hempstead community have celebrated the Asian cultures represented in North Hempstead during AAPI Heritage Month.
There is a $10 parking fee per vehicle if paying with cash, and a $7 fee with a credit or debit card. For more information, please call 311 or (516) 869-6311.
