Niskayuna Arbor Day Festival 2026 - Saturday, April 25th 11a.m. - 1p.m. Tree seedling give way, tree information booths, children's crafts, food trucks and music! This event is rain or shine and is open to the public.● The Arbor Day celebration will include a tree seedling giveaway, a food truck, various exhibitors, and live music. Our theme, ‘healthy trees, healthy people’ was used by local Niskayuna students of various age groups for an art exhibit.● Town residents are invited to attend to receive a bareroot tree, talk with Niskayuna Tree Council members, and talk with various exhibitors such as Albany Pinebush, Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, NY DEC Community and Urban Forests, and, of course, theNiskayuna Tree Council plus many other organizations.● The Tree Council plans to giveaway 375 tree seedlings during Arbor Day. We’ve given away more than 2,000 seedlings to Niskayuna residents since 2016.● Niskayuna residents can receive a tree seedling to plant in their yard. Tree options include Eastern Redbud, White Flowering Dogwood, Tulip Poplar and other varieties.● Niskayuna has held an Arbor Day celebration since 2016 to highlight the importance of maintaining and improving Niskayuna’s tree cover.● To celebrate Arbor Day, the Tree Council, Town officials and members of the Niskayuna Highway Department will plant a Tulip Poplar tree in a noticeable location.● Niskayuna has held the Tree City USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation for 22 years. Arbor Day Tree City designation turns 50 this year. Niskayuna is one of 3,587 recognized tree cities across the country.● The Niskayuna Tree Council, formed in 1992, strives to preserve the quality and character of the natural environment in Niskayuna in recognition that trees, shrubs and associated vegetation are an important natural resource.● The Tree Council’s mission is to ensure trees and their associated practical and aesthetic benefits are assured for future generations of town residents to enjoy.● The Tree Council annually partners with the Niskayuna Highway Department to plant street trees, as well as trees in the various municipal locations such as the senior center, and town parks such as Blatnick Park, and River Road Park.
