These lunch-hour tours are a perfect midday break, and you can even stop by the Museum Café for a bite to eat! Learn More This free tour will be led by Gretchen Dietrich, the Executive Director of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts! Gretchen Dietrich is the Marcia & John Price Executive Director of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, serving in the position since 2009. Dietrich began her career more than 35 years ago as a museum educator and has held positions at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. From 2015-2018. Dietrich served on the board of the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) and oversaw the AAMD's Education & Community Issues Committee. Since 2019 she has served on the Board of Directors of the Art Bridges Foundation, an organization dedicated to expanding access to American art across the country. I will focus on the bigger story of the exhibition--a focus on extraordinary art collected by the UMFA for the public good in the last 25 years. How does an art museum build and shape its collection over time? How do we think about the resonance of an artwork not just today - but in the future?
