SAVOY— The Savoy Fire Department and the Village of Savoy recognize the long and dedicated career of Public Information Officer Eddie Bain, who retires on April 13. Bain’s retirement marks the culmination of more than 50 years across the fire service in the area, including the Illinois Fire Service Institute, the Champaign Fire Department and the Urbana Fire Department. For the past 19 years, he has served the Village of Savoy as the fire department’s Public Information Officer. “Eddie has always carried himself with professionalism, integrity, and a deep commitment to our community,” said Savoy Fire Chief Sam Smith. “His knowledge, experience, and steady leadership have been invaluable to our organization and the residents we serve. He will be greatly missed, and we extend our sincere gratitude and best wishes to him in retirement.” Bain will be honored with a celebration at April 13 at the Savoy Fire Department station. The Fire Department is an ISO 3 paid-on-call and part-time fire department that provides firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services. These services are provided to all residents within the Village and to contractual areas that choose to utilize the Village for fire protection services.
