Documentary Depicting Rise of St. Pete's Warehouse Arts District Premieres at Second Saturday ArtWalk May 8, 2026 - The City of St. Petersburg will premiere a new documentary, "District Lines: The Rise of the Warehouse Arts District," on Saturday, May 9, at 7:45 p.m. on the Rosie Cohen Stage at the Warehouse Arts District. The film will be screened during the Second Saturday ArtWalk. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers. Admission is free and open to the public. "District Lines" is a 28-minute documentary that tells the story of how artists, creators, and local advocates transformed an industrial corridor into one of St. Petersburg’s most unique cultural hubs, with a look at what comes next for the district's future. Completed by the City’s video team in fall 2025, the film is divided into three sections: 1) The Beginning, 2) A Vibrant Arts Community, 3) Building a Sustainable Future. St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth T. Welch and Mark Aeling, Board President for Warehouse District Arts Association (WADA), will offer remarks before the screening. Markus Gottschlich, WADA Executive Director, will moderate the Q&A session with Michael Flanagan and Amanda Henderson, filmmakers from the City's video team. "District Lines" features interviews and commentary by the following individuals: Markus Gottschlich, Executive Director of Warehouse District Arts Association (WADA); Mark Aeling, Board President of WADA; Rob Kapusta, Founding WADA Member; former Mayor of St. Petersburg Rick Baker; Ceramicist Jan Richardson; Glass artist Duncan McClellan; Muralists Miss Crit (Laura Spencer) and ZuluPainter (Carlos Culbertson); Joel Hosler, Co-Owner of Seven C Music; Suzanne Pomerantzef, Co-founder and Artistic Director of Ballet Arts Academy.
