Document Shredding and Recycling Extravaganza

About this Event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONROE, TX (May 1, 2026) — The City of Conroe, in partnership with Frontier Waste Solutions, successfully hosted its Document Shredding and Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Dean Towery Public Works Service Center, providing residents with a convenient and environmentally responsible way to safely dispose of household materials. Held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 401 Sgt. Ed Holcomb Blvd. South, the event gave residents the opportunity to securely shred sensitive documents and recycle items that are often difficult to dispose of properly. Accepted materials included paper documents, old paint, household batteries, used tires, scrap metals such as steel, aluminum, and copper, and automotive fluids and related materials. Rogue Waste Recovery & Environmental, Inc. was also on-site collecting automotive-related waste, including used oil, used oil filters, used antifreeze or coolants, and gasoline or diesel products to ensure proper disposal. Thanks to strong community participation and the support of local recycling partners, the event produced impressive results: Texas Shred Solutions collected 15,560 pounds of paper North Montgomery County Recycle Center collected 510 gallons of paint (approximately 3.5 cubic yards) Southern Tire Mart #456 collected 142 tires IBS of Greater Conroe collected 616 pounds of batteries C&D Scrap Metal collected 1,500 pounds of scrap metal Rogue Waste Recovery & Environmental, Inc. collected: 25 gallons of mixed gas, oil, and water 125 gallons of used oil 1 cubic yard of empty oil containers In addition to supporting environmental sustainability, the event also benefited animals in need. Staff from the Conroe Animal Shelter were on-site accepting donations for animals currently in their care. Residents donated pet food, treats, blankets, beds, and toys to help support shelter operations. The event helped keep hazardous materials out of local landfills, encouraged responsible recycling habits, and provided residents with an easy way to declutter their homes while giving back to the community. “The overwhelming participation in this event reflects Conroe residents’ commitment to protecting our environment and supporting important community causes,” Karl Brosch, Utility Billing Manager, said. “We appreciate every resident and partner organization that helped make this event such a success.” The City looks forward to hosting future recycling initiatives that continue to promote sustainability and community involvement throughout Conroe.###CONTACT:Andrew YoussePublic Information [email protected]
