Even as the shop’s menacing owner, Clyde, tries to keep them under her thumb, the staff members are given purpose and permission to dream by their shared quest to create the perfect sandwich. Sandwiches become symbolic and the play blends humor with poignant commentary on systemic struggles, hope, and finding humanity behind a criminal record.
