Celebración: Music of Hispanic Heritage with St. Mary's University

Hosted by Hemisfair, Celebración: Music of Hispanic Heritage brings together St. Mary's University and Hemisfair for an evening celebrating Hispanic heritage through music. The performance will feature the St. Mary's University Mariachi Cascabel, Jazz Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and the San Antonio Brass Band, showcasing music by Hispanic composers and musicians. Jerry Gonzalez, director of the St. Mary's University Center for Mexican American Studies, will also join the program as a guest speaker. A special highlight of the evening will be the Texas premiere of Sinfonía Nómada, a brand-new symphony for band by world-renowned Mexican composer Arturo Márquez. The St. Mary's University Wind Ensemble is one of the ensembles that commissioned the work, making this performance a particularly meaningful moment for the university and San Antonio music community. Celebración: Music of Hispanic Heritage is free and open to the public. Join us at Civic Park at Hemisfair for an evening of music, culture, and celebration during Hispanic Heritage Month.
