Casper Marathon / Morad Park closure for dogs
About this Event
Morad Park closed to dogs Sunday morning for Casper Marathon
Temporary closure supports public safety during race activity.
Casper, Wyoming (June 2, 2026) – City of Casper officials announced Morad Park will be closed to dogs on Sunday, June 7th from 6 a.m. until noon for the Casper Marathon. The temporary closure is intended to help protect runners, spectators, and race staff during the event. The marathon course uses portions of the Platte River Trails system, including the Morad Park section, during the morning race window.
“Morad Park is an active area during the marathon, and closing the park during the race helps us create a safer environment for everyone involved,” said Parks Manager Randy Norvelle. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while this temporary closure is in place.” The City has closed Morad Park to dogs during previous marathon events following reported incidents involving dogs and race participants. The closure helps reduce conflicts between park users and runners during the morning race window.
Casper Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifying event that attracts hundreds of runners from across the country. Residents looking for an alternate area where dogs can be off leash may use Mackenzie Dog Park, located at 1489 Bryan Stock Trail. Morad Park is expected to reopen after noon on Sunday, June 7.
