UF/IFAS Extension to Host Spring Backyard Poultry Workshop in Wakulla County
CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. – Residents interested in starting or improving a backyard chicken flock are invited to attend a Beginning Backyard Poultry Workshop hosted by UF/IFAS Extension this spring. The workshop will take place on April 30, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at 84 Cedar Avenue, Crawfordville, FL 32327.
Designed for new and aspiring poultry keepers, the workshop will provide practical, research-based guidance on how to successfully care for backyard chickens. Whether participants have recently purchased chicks or are planning to start a small flock, this training will cover essential information needed for healthy and productive birds.
Topics covered during the workshop include poultry breeds, nutrition, chick care, housing and equipment, biosecurity, predator prevention, common poultry diseases and care, local laws and regulations, and basic candling skills.
The cost to attend the workshop is $15 per person. Pre-registration is required, and participants must purchase a ticket for the specific location they plan to attend. Registration is available online. Click here to register.
