Red Flag Warning Expires for Wyoming Regions
A Red Flag Warning for multiple Wyoming regions, including the Bighorn Basin and Casper BLM areas, has expired as of October 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM MDT, due to improved humidity and decreased winds.
The Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton, Wyoming, for several regions has expired as of October 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM MDT.
This severe weather alert, which was in effect for the North Bighorn Basin/Worland BLM, Cody Foothills, Sweetwater County/Rock Springs BLM/Flaming Gorge NRA, Natrona County/Casper BLM, Johnson County/Casper BLM, South Bighorn Basin/Worland BLM, South Bighorn Mountains, Owl Creek Mountains, and Granite/Green/Ferris/Rattlesnake Mountains, has been allowed to expire due to an increase in relative humidity above critical levels and a decrease in strong winds.
The NWS Riverton WY issued the update at 6:54 PM MDT on October 9, 2026, confirming the expiration of the warning. Residents in these areas are advised that the immediate severe fire weather conditions have subsided.
